What You'll Achieve.
Deliver multiple concurrent research, development and production programmes; Ensure the PCB conforms to requirements; Ensure the design is of high quality; Ensure seamless transition to manufacture; Deliver to time and effort estimates; Achieve optimal balance between requirements, schedule and cost; Lead to contract awards
Industry & Context.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, British Citizen resident in UK for 5-10 years for SC/DV clearance
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Degree in an engineering, mathematical or science-based subject or equivalent experience, Experience of PCB design, routing and layout of complex, high-density electronic circuit assemblies, including through-hole and fine-pitch SMT components, Extensive experience of using industry standard toolsets for PCB layout and simulation, In-depth knowledge of routing practices, guidelines and IPC standards, Experience of implementing DFM and DFT features on PCBs and review processes with suppliers, Proven experience of using modern design tools with a record of successful PCB designs covering a range of complex PCBs e. g. multi-layer, high speed digital, RF, analogue and power distribution
Nice to Have
Experience of signal integrity analysis on routed PCBs, Understanding of power distribution and thermal aspects of PCB design, Experience of Gerber file and ODB++ manipulation, Carrying out complex layout using Altium or PADs, Ability to create schematics using Altium or PADs, Experience of using Windchill for version control
What You'll Do.
Design and layout complex multi-layer PCBs
Design PCB layouts for analogue
Design PCB layouts considering security
EMC and TEMPEST implications
Incorporate test points in the layout
Liaise with bare PCB fabricators
Liaise with PCB assembly houses
Work with mechanical engineers
Liaise with procurement and supply chain teams
CAD library administration
Participate in designs reviews
Develop and maintain knowledge of best practice PCB design processes
Estimate time and effort for PCB design activities
Propose improvements in tools
processes and techniques
Contribute to or lead defined aspects of the project
Generate and review technical proposals
Provide accurate estimates for bids and proposals
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Work with the electronic hardware team; Work with the mechanical engineers; Liaising with the procurement and supply chain teams; Participating in designs reviews with electrical and mechanical hardware engineers; Explains technically complex concepts clearly to less technical/involved parties
