Must Have
Experience overseeing payroll operations in a complex organization, In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance, including tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and reporting requirements, Hands-on experience with multi-state payroll for salaried and hourly populations, Direct experience with prevailing wage reporting and compliance, Proven people leadership experience within a payroll function, working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance hands-on oversight and strategic leadership

Ensure accurate and compliant execution in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Maintain responsibility for payroll outcomes

Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll inquiries

Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of employee payroll records
Ensure compliance with all federal
and local payroll tax laws

Oversee payroll tax filings
and coordination with external payroll and tax vendors
and maintain prevailing wage documentation and reporting
Own payroll-related internal controls
Lead payroll participation in internal audits
and year-end close activities

Ensure proper training
and knowledge sharing across the payroll function
Partner closely with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure payroll inputs
and reporting are accurate and aligned

In this role, you will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll execution across a growing, multi‑state workforce of 3,000+ employees while driving continuous improvement, audit readiness, and operational excellence. This role serves as the primary owner and escalation point for payroll processing, compliance, and controls. You will bring deep payroll expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a service‑oriented mindset to support employees and act as a trusted partner to Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, and other employees in a private equity–backed environment.
