Must Have
highway related design areas, design codes (DMRB/MCDHW/TSRGD etc.), CDM, H&S legislation, College/University vocational qualification (MEng/MSCEng/BSc/HNC and HND), environmental requirements of highway schemes, highway engineering on Local Authority or National Highways
Nice to Have
Membership of an appropriate professional institution (ICE or CIHT), Registered with the Engineering Council, Pavement Engineer Certificate from the institute of Asphalt Technology, Asset Management experience, relevant computer design applications, Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8, appropriate CSCS card registration, IT Skills relevant to Civil Engineering Design, Microsoft Office, other highway related design areas, Licensed to drive in the UK, leading small design teams, coordinating interfaces with other disciplines

### **Job Description** ## Overview The role will provide technical design input to proposing and detailing design solutions for upcoming highways pavement renewal schemes around the CPS (M25) network. There is a broad range of engineering design challenges across the M25 and the need for safe and efficient design solutions are fundamental for keeping the UK’s biggest, busiest and most critical road networks operational day in, day out. This role is expected to lead, manage and take ownership of investigations, detailed design and then certification of construction works across the M25 network. The role will be expected to assist with method engineering reviews with framework contractors and ensure the design detailing allows for safe, low-cost and efficient construction processes. The role will engage with multiple stakeholders across National Highway and Connect Plus and will require close working relationship with CPS Asset and PM teams. ## Your role **Main areas of focus** * Taking a leading role in pavement investigations, preparing the investigation scopes and analysing the results and preparing the detail design based on findings. * Prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables to budget and programme. * Undertake optioneering and feasibility of design solutions and preparation of whole life costing. * Preparation and review of contract documentation. * Deliver schemes in accordance with CPS Quality Management Processes and CPS internal standards. * Work with the Project Manager to lead the internal Gateway reviews during the design phase to ensure that they are timely and appropriate sign off are achieved at each Gateway. * Manage and support all staff (internal and external) so to achieve design delivery to budget and programme. * To review and check deliverables from internal and external designers to ensure that designs are complete and compliant, and ensure they meet the brief and agreed outcomes, prior to submission to National Highway
