Must Have
An education to at least first degree level, preferably in Physics / Mechanical or Optical Engineering., A technical background with analytical skills and practical ability., understanding of optical principles (imaging, alignment, aberrations, tolerancing), attention to detail and good inter-personal skills, Confidently liaise with customers and suppliers on product specifications / performance matters., Success in establishing effective working relationships at all levels., Drive and proven ability to work under own initiative., Experience troubleshooting complex optical systems and structured problem‑solving skills.

This role is critical to supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), sustaining production, and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of engineering. Development Engineering is a core discipline that supports Qioptiq’s ability to develop and deliver new (& existing) products in a cost effective and timely manner. The primary role of Development Engineering is to identify and mitigate the technical risks in development projects. This is a proactive role that takes the lead in developing awareness of technology trends, opportunities, and implementation where appropriate.
