What You'll Do.
Lead Electrical Design Engineer (Building Systems)
guiding electrical design efforts from initial site evaluation through project completion
Perform site evaluations and document existing field conditions
Prepare engineering studies
and supporting documentation
Design and analyze building electrical systems
Develop construction documents and detailed technical specifications
Respond to RFIs during bidding and construction
Review contractor submittmits for compliance with design intent
Participate in field observations and final inspections
Support project closeout
including as-built documentation
Monitor project schedules and budgets
Perform quality assurance reviews of design deliverables
Ensure adherence to applicable codes

## Description Lead Electrical Design Engineer (Building Systems) Location: Chantilly, VA Employment Type: Direct Hire Compensation: Starts at $130,000 annually; higher based on experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to take a lead role in the design and execution of building systems projects. This position is responsible for guiding electrical design efforts from initial site evaluation through project completion, while supporting and mentoring junior engineers and designers. ## Key Functions Project Leadership & Client Interface Act as the primary electrical engineering lead on assigned projects Manage design efforts from initial concept through final delivery Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Design & Technical Execution Perform site evaluations and document existing field conditions Prepare engineering studies, reports, and supporting documentation Design and analyze building electrical systems, including: Lighting and power distribution Fire alarm systems Telecommunications and low-voltage infrastructure Medium voltage distribution and utility coordination UPS and emergency power systems Develop construction documents and detailed technical specifications Construction Phase Support Respond to RFIs during bidding and construction Review contractor submittals for compliance with design intent Participate in field observations and final inspections Support project closeout, including as-built documentation Quality & Project Controls Monitor project schedules and budgets to ensure alignment with expectations Perform quality assurance reviews of design deliverables Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and best practices ## Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license Minimum of 10 years of experience in building systems electrical design
