Full Job Description
Edutopia, the influential publisher of stories and videos about what works in education, is looking for a sharp, experienced editor to shape its emerging school leadership and AI Innovation beats. This is the kind of role where you’re not just covering the topic; you’re changing the way educators make leadership and technology decisions in schools–and the way kids learn. We’re looking for someone with a great nose for story angles, excellent writing/reporting/editing chops (with plenty of clips from respected publishers), and the ability to identify emerging trends around leadership and AI in K-12 education and turn them into compelling, deeply reported features, scripts, and social media stories. Bonus points if you’ve worked to develop podcasts–a leadership podcast is under consideration—video, newsletters, or other multimedia formats. You’ll be pitching and writing features that give educators something concrete to act on and spark real conversation; the kind of stories educators, parents, and edtech leaders can’t stop debating in comment sections and group chats. You’ll help shape editorial direction, build relationships with influential voices in leadership, education and AI, and cover everything from classroom tech, leadership and learning science to motivation, student development, and the future of education. This is a remote, full-time position with benefits, funded for two years with the possibility of extension. **Requirements** **Required Skills** * 7+ years of journalism/reporting with feature writing, feature editing, and feature assigning experience; * Ability to identify trends and turn them into sharp, compelling story angles; * Proven ability to develop sources, grow beats, and create razor-sharp editorial lineups; * Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven digital media environments; * Genuine interest in improving preK-12 education and curiosity about how leadership and AI are shaping it; * Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with
