Full Job Description
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is building the future of sustainable lumber with next-generation sawmill technology. We design and operate state-of-the-art modular sawmills that produce high-grade dimensional wood products with greater efficiency and less waste. Backed by leading investors including Cantos, Slow Ventures, Susa Ventures, Banter Capital, Humba Ventures, and Ravelin Capital. The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. As a member of the Design Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of bringing technical innovation into an industry that spans hundreds of years. You will be responsible for designing complex mechanical systems that integrate hydraulic, pneumatic and/or sensory controls in the pursuit of refining lumber at various stages. You will also work closely with other design engineers and technicians to review, install and test these designs in a production environment. This role is based onsite in New Albany, Mississippi, and is best suited for candidates who are already local, with frequent and regular presence at our Mississippi mill sites. Specifically, this position will do the following: - Design sawmilling equipment and subsystems. - Document design development and analysis and lead cross-functional brainstorming reviews. - Author equipment install and test procedures. - Manage part procurement. - Engage and manage external vendors. - Champion root cause and corrective action investigations as needed. - Provide regular updates to cross-functional partners. - Support and attend onsite installation and testing activities. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. - 10+ years experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. Sawmill experience is a bonus. - Strong experience using 3D creation software. Inventor is a bonus. - Strong experience using GD&T on 2D drawings. - Experience with finite element analysis. - Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. - Experience
