Must Have

Master's degree / PhD in social sciences, law, public policy, politics, economics or a related discipline, Five to seven years of professional experience in EU migration and asylum policy, or closely related fields, Prior experience conducting and managing policy research studies and evaluations for EU Institutions, Experience managing projects, including budgets and research teams, Demonstrable experience in the coordination of internal / external experts at various levels to ensure tasks are completed on time and to budget, Exceptional ability to write and communicate in English, Have the legal right to work in Belgium, or be eligible for sponsorship on a case-by-case basis, Be physically located in Belgium by Day 1 of employment (or shortly before your start date)

Nice to Have

interest in expanding into other DG HOME policy areas or other policy areas covered under adjacent accounts, design and application of qualitative and quantitative research and analysis methods, Robust knowledge of European policy making process and EU Institutions, experience of working for the European Commission is an advantage

What You'll Do.

supporting the work of the European Migration Network (EMN)

contributing to research and evaluations in other policy areas covered by DG HOME (e.g. legal migration

irregular migration and return

large-scale IT systems

and border management)

as well as adjacent policy areas

lead on the production of the wide range of the network’s analytical products

support on the thematic content for dissemination and communications activities

help to win and deliver EU level research assignments

evaluations and impact assessments

development and implementation of innovative research methodologies

Manage comparative research

and production of policy content

including thematic papers and reports

Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders

Support other network-related activities such as working groups and advisory services

Lead the design and content for events to disseminate research outcomes

Manage one or two other small / medium-sized projects (research

or studies) or lead packages of activities and deliverables within larger projects

Conduct EU level research

evaluation and analytical projects

Coordinate and support high quality data collection activities

Lead or contribute to report writing

presentations and briefings for EU institutions and agencies

Lead or substantially contribute to proposals across research

impact assessment and implementation services

The practice combines research and evaluation services with technical assistance, training, networking and other implementation services to EU institutions. Our current portfolio of projects supports the main Directorates-General of the Commission, including DG Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME), DG Employment (DG EMPL) and DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (DG ECHO).
