Full-time on-site presence, Work hours that align with construction operations, Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support shutdowns or critical project activities, Ability to access active construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating unfinished construction areas, Weekend and holiday work may be required, Attendance during school closures (due to inclement weather and/or other emergencies)
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Minimum 10 years of construction experience, preferably in a field leadership role such as senior construction superintendent, general superintendent, or field operations manager, Experience managing major renovation and construction projects, Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related building construction discipline, or equivalent experience, Valid or prior Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) and/or City of Boston ABC Supervisor License
Nice to Have
Experience working within a University, healthcare, or other large institutional environment, Experience with wet laboratory and vivarium construction and renovations, including coordination of specialized MEP systems within occupied research facilities, Demonstrated experience overseeing construction administration for complex capital projects
What You'll Do.
Overseeing construction activities to ensure projects meet established schedule
and quality objectives
Leading site investigations
Administering pre-bid walkthroughs and contractor site visits
Overseeing hazardous materials testing and abatement
Identifying and coordinating impacts to critical building systems and utilities
Developing and managing occupant communication plans
Ensuring contractor adherence to safety protocols
Spearheading and coordinating system testing
and readiness activities
Overseeing logistics related to furniture and equipment relocation
Partnering with Facilities staff and campus stakeholders to define emergency response coordination
Overseeing field construction activities
Optimizing contractor performance
Leading site logistics planning with vendors
Advising on contractor crane lift plans
and rigging strategies
Administering Harvard University police details and safety measures
Directing scheduling and coordination of specialty contractors
Establishing regular construction coordination meetings
Leading access to occupied spaces for construction activities
Ensuring building systems and utilities impacted by construction are properly restored and operational
Implementing and leading periodic inspections with Facilities staff
Representing PD&C at weekly Campus Planning and Facilities coordination meetings
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Works closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, campus stakeholders, and Facilities staff; Partner with Facilities staff and campus stakeholders to define emergency response coordination; Establish regular construction coordination meetings with contractors and project stakeholders; Represent PD&C at weekly Campus Planning and Facilities coordination meetings

Communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
Process & Methodology
Managing major renovation and construction projects, Construction project delivery methods, Construction phases, Construction administration, Project closeout and turnover, Direct multiple concurrent projects
