Must Have

extensive and varying experience in construction inspection roles on bridge projects for major clients in Alberta such as Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, City of Edmonton and/or City of Calgary, familiarity with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and/or major municipal standards and project delivery methods, registered or able to become registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET), reliable transportation and a valid AB driver’s license, ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-range of climates and environments

Nice to Have

A professional designation is preferred, Experience with major clients in Alberta, such as Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, City of Edmonton and/or City of Calgary is preferred

independently performs all aspects of bridge construction and contract administration assignments

maintains accurate site records and leads the preparation and submission of project reports

mentorship and functional guidance to junior staff

collaborates with contractors

designers and owner’s representatives for the completion of complex construction assignments

provides technical evaluation of work in progress and resolution of constructability issues

maintains first-level quality assurance

supervises construction engineering work and provides technical expertise

reviews and interprets design drawings and specifications

provides resolution for difficult and/or complex technical engineering problems

review and comment on shop drawing submittals

provides technical guidance to site personnel

ensures that all work is installed in accordance with plans

and industry and quality standards

collaborates with contractors on site to eliminate any hazards

ensures that all personnel engage in safe work practices

review and analyze data relative to the project

complete plans and specification reviews for projects

assist with preparation of a bid

monitors construction schedules and prepares progress appraisal

provides schedule and progress appraisal data to project managers and owner’s representatives

leads or participates in regular site meetings

maintains a daily log for permanent record of project construction

as well as engineering data for the final project turnover and report

initiates and maintains records

back-charge procedures

maintains construction technical catalogs

and other literature pertaining to the project
