Must Have
3 to 5 years of billing experience in a large law firm required, High School diploma or GED equivalent
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, preferred, or, equivalent combination of education and experience, Degree in Accounting preferred, 5 plus years of billing experience preferred
What You'll Do.
Overseeing the Firm's global billing function
Ensuring compliance and consistency of billing practices
policies and procedures
Supporting the partnership in achieving timely billing of inventory
managing and executing attorney billing
analyzing and processing a high volume of attorney bills to clients on a monthly basis
Reviewing and editing pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests
Applying retainer/on-account funds as directed by attorney and as per Firm policy
Processing write-offs according to Firm guidelines and policy
Executing complex bills
such as multiple discounts by matter
and preparation of electronic bills
Submitting invoices electronically
Assisting with bill resolution as required
Reviewing billing supporting documentation for accuracy
Researching and verifying descriptions
client/matter data and client billing requirements and make appropriate corrections
Creating billing schedules and various billing analyses as required
Distributing monthly partner reports
Regularly reviewing and updating comments for reports distributed to the Finance Committee and Partners
Attending Partner meetings and weekly management meetings to review unbilled matter comments
Working cooperatively with Collections staff and assisting with accounts receivable issues to minimize credit balances
Mentoring and training new Billing Coordinators as directed
Assisting with special projects as needed

The Billing team is responsible for overseeing the Firm's global billing function, ensuring compliance and consistency of billing practices, policies and procedures and supporting the partnership in achieving timely billing of inventory. **Job Summary** Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Billing Coordinator to join the Firm’s Billing, Collections and E-Billing team. This role is critical to maintaining the firm’s financial integrity and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for services rendered to clients.
