Eligibility Requirements

This role is onsite based in Palo Alto, CA.

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

8+ years of experience in battery engineering, with a focus on cell selection, battery pack design, and system integration, Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, Experience in the aerospace, robotics, or electric vehicle (EV) industries with high-power and safety-critical applications working with lithium-ion or other advanced battery chemistries, Experience leading cross-functional hardware or system-level projects from concept through verification and validation, Proficiency in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools to evaluate large sets of battery performance data, Experience with thermal management design, modeling, and testing for battery packs

What You'll Do.

Maintain expert knowledge of the current and future state of the battery industry

Evaluate emerging cell technologies to guide Wing’s long-term energy storage roadmap

Lead the evaluation and selection of battery technologies for future aircraft

and testing of battery systems

Serve as Wing's primary Point of Contact (POC) with contract manufacturers

Lead efforts to certify battery systems

ensuring strict compliance with relevant aviation regulations and safety standards

Act as the company-wide expert for all battery-related matters

Collaborate with hardware

and flight systems teams to integrate high-fidelity battery data into vehicle health monitoring systems and flight contingency logic

Analyze battery performance data from flight tests and commercial operations to drive continuous design improvements

and data-driven predictive maintenance/replacement strategies

Support complex risk analyses and evaluate the safety impacts of battery incidents

developing robust mitigation and containment strategies

Lead cross-functional hardware or system-level projects; partnering with the policy and regulatory teams; Collaborate with hardware, software, and flight systems teams
