## _**Job Description:**_ _*German version below*_ We are looking for a **Senior Backend Engineer** (f/m/x) to join our Single Sign‑On Services Engineering team in Frankfurt or Berlin. This role combines **strong backend engineering expertise** with **advanced production support and domain ownership**. You will work on highly scalable, security‑critical backend services supporting enterprise authentication and federated identity platforms. In addition to hands‑on development and deep debugging, you will act as a **senior technical escalation point** and a **Subject Matter Expert (SME)** for critical components of the SSO ecosystem. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong backend development skills, excellent troubleshooting capability, and a proactive mindset to improve system reliability, resilience, and operational excellence. **Your key responsibilities** * Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services supporting large‑scale SSO and identity platforms * Lead investigation and resolution of complex production incidents, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal business impact * Act as a technical escalation point (SL3) for SL1 and SL2 support teams * Perform deep dive debugging of Java services, SAML/OAuth2/OpenID Connect flows, and federation issues * Resolve complex issues across Java‑based services, APIs, and distributed systems * Work extensively with authentication and federation flows (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML) * Collaborate closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams to improve system reliability, observability, and performance * Analyse logs, metrics, and traces using monitoring and logging platforms (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK) * Support release activities and validate production readiness of new features and deployments * Maintain and enhance runbooks, knowledge articles, and operational documentation **Your skills and experiences** * Strong hands‑on experience in **backend development** using **Java** (Python or similar langua
