What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Licensure as an Athletic Trainer with the Virginia Department of Health Professions, Certification through the National Athletic Training Board of Certification, AHA BLS-HCP, Effective interpersonal skills, Keyboarding and utilization of automated computer systems, Assist with or transfer athletes of various weight/heights, Stand for long periods of time, Good mobility skills, Walk long distances

What You'll Do.
Prevent athletic injury and enhance performance
Develop training programs to prevent injuries
Examine athlete's injuries
Show techniques to build strength
Avoid future or further injury
Support clinical and medical staff
Assist with patient care
Perform functions regarding athletic injuries
Collect data and perform patient assessment
Perform initial patient evaluation and screens
Report findings to physician
Complete requisitions for lab
Carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations
Observe all safety precautions
Assure proper disposal of specimens and contaminated waste
Provide patient and community education
Serve as a liaison between patient/athlete
staff and school personnel
Document patient information in the electronic medical record
Develop and distribute patient education information
Perform patient evaluation during post operative phases
Provide education on home care plans
Perform clerical and office functions
Review charts the night before patient's appointment
Retrieve needed information from facilities
Provide bracing and orthotic fabrication and applications
suture/staple removal
Provide post-operative wound assessment and care
Provide patient brace/crutch fitting
Provide production education
Provide gait training
Demonstrate and provide proper taping
Provide fitting of athletic equipment
Cover assigned pre-season physicals
Provide education programs to school personnel
Coordinate pre- and post-participation exams
Assist with acquiring protective equipment for athletes
Communicate/interact with patients
coaches and athletic trainers
Assist in the development and implementation of sports medicine program
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Serve as a liaison between patient/athlete, physician, physician office staff and school personnel; Frequent communication/interaction with patients, physicians, coworkers, area coaches and athletic trainers; Assist in the development and implementation of newly established sports medicine program
Communication Scope
Effective interpersonal skills to communicate both in person and in writing
