Must Have
Licensure as an Athletic Trainer with the Virginia Department of Health Professions, certification through the National Athletic Training Board of Certification, AHA BLS-HCP
Nice to Have

What You'll Do.
Prevent athletic injury
Enhance athlete performance
Develop training programs
Examine athlete's injuries
Show techniques to build strength
Support clinical and medical staff
Assist with patient care
Perform functions regarding athletic injuries
Perform patient assessment
Perform initial patient evaluation
Report findings to physician
Complete requisitions
Carry out prescribed treatments
Rehabilitate athletic injuries
Restock with supplies
Sterilize reusable equipment
Observe safety precautions
Assure proper disposal
Provide patient education
Provide community education
Document patient information
Distribute patient education information
Perform patient evaluation
Provide education on home care plans
Perform clerical functions
Perform office functions
Retrieve needed information
Provide bracing and orthotic fabrication
Provide suture/staple removal
Provide post-operative wound assessment
Provide post-operative wound care
Provide patient brace fitting
Provide crutch fitting
Provide gait training
Demonstrate and provide proper taping
Demonstrate and provide strapping
Demonstrate and provide bracing
Demonstrate and provide fitting of athletic equipment
Cover pre-season physicals
Provide education programs to school personnel
Provide education programs to student athletes
Provide education programs to guardians
Coordinate pre- and post-participation exams
Assist with acquiring protective equipment
Assist in development of sports medicine program
Assist in implementation of sports medicine program
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Liaison between patient/athlete, physician, physician office staff and school personnel; Frequent communication/interaction with patients, physicians, coworkers, area coaches and athletic trainers
Communication Scope
Effective interpersonal skills to communicate both in person and in writing
