Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do. **Purpose of the Job** The SBA Business Development Officer (BDO) is considered an expert on SBA 7(a) lending and is responsible for developing and maintaining external referral partnerships that generate SBA loan opportunities. This role is fully focused on externally sourced SBA 7(a) loan origination and serves as Truliant’s primary market-facing representative for its SBA program. The primary objective of the position is to originate, structure, and facilitate SBA 7(a) financing for business acquisition, expansion, refinance, commercial real estate, and working capital transactions, while managing relationships and expectations throughout the credit and closing process. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities** * Develops, maintains, and expands a network of external referral sources to generate SBA 7(a) loan opportunities, including business brokers, CPAs, attorneys, commercial real estate brokers, franchise consultants, bankers, and other professional partners. * Sources 100% of loan production externally; this role does not rely on inbound leads, branch referrals, or portfolio-based sourcing. * Acts as Truliant’s market-facing SBA subject matter expert, representing the credit union in meetings, events, and industry forums. * Conducts initial deal screening, SBA eligibility assessment, and transaction structuring in accordance with SBA SOP and internal credit policy. * Works directly with the Director, SBA Credit, early in the process to presc
