Full Job Description
Job Summary Partnership with the Emergency Services Nurse Educator team to facilitate onboarding/orientation, competency assessment/skills validation, ongoing staff development, and development of education to meet the needs of nursing team members in the emergency departments across the delivery system. Collaboration with the Nursing Practice and Development Team and the Nurse Education Forum to address needs for nursing professional development across the delivery system. This educator will support orientation/onboarding in the Grand Rapids emergency departments and collaborate with the ED educators supporting CHW emergency departments. This educator would partner with ED Education team to instruct ED service line classes and certification courses (TNCC, ENPC, ACLS, PALS) throughout CHW. Using tools of consulting, mentoring, coaching and interprofessional collaboration, the nurse educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert. Functions in the roles of change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions. Nurse educators are REQUIRED to obtain their nursing administration or professional/specialty certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role. Essential Functions * Oversees orientation, as part of the onboarding process, to ensure that new hire/transfer employees have the knowledge and skill to safely practice independently in their role.
