Must Have

Bachelor's degree in social work required, LSW licensed, School Social Worker certification (13003)

Nice to Have

2 years of previous experience with children and/or families in urban communities highly preferred, Master's degree in social work, school counseling, or school psychology

What You'll Do.

Lead school's efforts for student emotional support

Collaborate with students

Provide one-on-one and small group counseling

Create proactive counseling program

Support academically rich environment

Serve on special education committees

Provide required IEP services

Organize health education

Organize sexual education

Organize leadership training

Organize alcohol/drug prevention

Help maintain school and staff morale

Organize school-wide events

Organize student meetings

Manage conflict resolution

Manage anger management

Serve as point person for counseling issues

Meet with individual students requiring counseling on IEPS

Develop treatment plans for students and families

Develop intervention plans for students and families

Maintain contact with teachers regarding student behavioral plans

Serve as liaison to parent organization

Keep records of school-related actions

Keep records of school-related initiatives

Develop relationships with community organizations

Serve as liaison between students/families and social service

Monitor effectiveness of external services

Evaluate effectiveness of external resources

Visit homes of Achievement First families

Attend staff meetings

Attend professional development workshops

Set standard for professional behavior

Help teachers understand challenging students

Lead workshops on physical development

Lead workshops on social development

Proactively address issues
