Full Job Description

The Holmes Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Research Technician. Reporting to the Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, the Research Technician will join an NIH-funded research group dedicated to examining fundamental properties of chromatin structure using the budding yeast model system. Responsibilities include: * Execute research projects using standard techniques in molecular genetics (PCR, DNA extractions, yeast and bacterial transformations, gel electrophoresis, western blots) * Maintain a detailed lab notebook documenting all experimental work * Lab management, including inventory and ordering * Supervision of undergraduate work-study students * Other duties as assigned This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain hands-on research experience, learn new methods, publish and present research, and join a community of scientists in the life sciences at Wesleyan University. This is an on-campus position. Funding for this position has been approved for 2 years. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Experience conducting wet-bench research in molecular biology or molecular genetics. Demonstrate strong organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently. Demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse environment and ability to build effective collaborative relationships. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** Experience in bioinformatic analysis or biochemistry. **Additional Applicant Instructions:** Position is open until filled.
