Full Job Description
**_Job Responsibilities_** The Hydrodynamics Research Engineer supports experimental research in hydrodynamics, ship performance, waves, and more generally fluid–structure interaction. The position is responsible for the design, integration, calibration, and maintenance of measurement systems used in experimental studies and self-propelled ship models. Duties include selection and installation of sensors, development of data acquisition and control systems, synchronized high-speed data collection, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical systems. The engineer ensures data quality through proper calibration, uncertainty assessment, and documentation. The role involves close collaboration with faculty, researchers, and students in experimental design, test execution, and data validation. The engineer maintains laboratory instrumentation infrastructure, supports facility upgrades, develops standard operating procedures, and trains students in safe and effective use of equipment.
