**Job Posting Title:** Research Engineering/Scientist Assistant **\----** **Hiring Department:** Department of Neuroscience **\----** **Position Open To:** All Applicants **\----** **Weekly Scheduled Hours:** 40 **\----** **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt from FLSA **\----** **Earliest Start Date:** May 27, 2026 **\----** **Position Duration:** Expected to Continue Until May 26, 2027 **\----** **Location:** UT MAIN CAMPUS **\----** **Job Details:** ## General Notes Initial assignment will be for one year. Subsequent renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. ## Purpose Perform research experiments and assist in general lab management in the lab of Dr. Amy Lee. ## Responsibilities * Perform experiments relating to mouse behavioral and/or electrophysiological assays measuring visual and somatosensory function. * Collaborate with other lab personnel on projects. * Assistance in mouse colony management and training of other lab personnel in lab techniques and mouse colony management as needed. * Assistance with general lab management duties including ordering, receiving, and record-keeping; assisting with oversight of compliance protocols (e.g., IACUC, IBC); onboarding of personnel; maintaining lab equipment. * Help with supervising of undergraduate assistants. * Reading scientific literature, writing parts of manuscripts, attendance of seminars/lab meetings, presenting research at internal and external conferences. ## Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or related field * Experience with mouse handling and behavioral assays * Experience with genotyping and PCR * At least two years of wet lab experience ## Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge of histology and confocal microscopy techniques ## Salary $40,000 ## Working Conditions * May work around chemical fumes * May work around standard office conditions * May work around biohazards * May work around chemicals * Repetitive
