Exposure to additive manufacturing or metal processing, Familiarity with laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) or other metal additive manufacturing technologies, Understanding of process parameter optimization, Experience or interest in experimental work involving materials fabrication, Experience or interest in thermal characterization, Experience or interest in mechanical testing, Experience or interest in microstructural analysis, Exposure to materials characterization techniques such as optical microscopy, Exposure to materials characterization techniques such as SEM, Exposure to materials characterization techniques such as XRD, Exposure to materials characterization techniques such as tensile testing, Exposure to materials characterization techniques such as thermal conductivity measurements, Basic knowledge of Mg-alloys, Basic knowledge of lightweight metals, Basic knowledge of thermal management applications, Familiarity with CAD software, Familiarity with design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) concepts

Develop and optimize AM process

Develop thermal design for Mg cold plate
experimental characterization
Investigate relationships between AM processing conditions
Support research project
Conduct experimental research
Conduct process development research
Optimize LPBF process parameters
Perform design-of-experiments studies
Select and evaluate Mg-alloy powders
Fabricate and characterize coupon-scale samples
Design and fabricate prototype components
Investigate manufacturability
Support integration of additively manufactured components
Assist in preparation of research reports
Assist in preparation of journal publications
Assist in preparation of technical presentations
Assist in preparation of project documentation
Collaborate with students
