Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).** **POSITION SUMMARY:** Under the supervision of Professor Sidney Omelon, the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to support research projects focused on sustainable materials and environmental process engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to 1) the characterization and processing of EV battery waste (black mass), including extraction of lithium iron phosphate or hydrated iron (III) phosphate; and 2) the development and scale-up of processes to reduce carbon dioxide in biogas using waste concrete and enhance phosphorus recovery. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** The tasks of this position include but are not limited to the following: * Develops and conducts research projects and protocols focused on the characterization of the material and chemical composition of EV battery waste black mass * Establishes the design and development of research methods to support lab-scale process development of lithium iron phosphate or iron (III) phosphate extraction from waste black mass * Plans and leads the development of experiments related to the development of lab-scale biogas production processes and associated systems * Develops and implements new methods of analysis or research to advance biogas treatment approaches, including reducing carbon dioxide concentration using waste concrete and improving phosphorus recovery * Leads the analysis and interpretation of research data and disseminates the results through repor
