What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Bachelor's degree in Islamic Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, or a related field., Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a banking, financial services, or customer-facing sales role., Basic knowledge of Islamic Banking principles and Shari’ah-compliant product structures., Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets and manage customer relationships in a structured environment.

Nice to Have

Prior experience in an Islamic Banking unit, Shari’ah-compliant microfinance institution, or Takaful company., Exposure to credit assessment, KYC/AML processes, or financial product origination., Certificate or short course in Islamic Finance or Banking (e. g. , IFQ, CIMA Islamic Finance Certificate, or equivalent)., Working knowledge of Bank of Tanzania regulatory requirements relevant to Islamic Banking.

Servicing an assigned client portfolio

Performing field-level business development activities in full compliance with Shari’ah principles

Converting leads into active customers

Deepening existing relationships

Ensuring every client interaction reflects the Bank’s commitment to Shari’ah-compliant

customer-centred service

Contributing to deposit mobilisation

financing origination

and customer satisfaction targets

Managing the acquisition pipeline

Ensuring business development activities continue uninterrupted

Executing a structured weekly and monthly call plan targeting prospective Lariba customers

Generating and following up on leads

Conducting needs-assessment meetings with prospects

Preparing and presenting product proposals and financing applications

Managing the end-to-end onboarding process for new customers

Participating in community events

and trade association meetings

Maintaining an up-to-date CRM record of all prospects and pipeline activities

Providing weekly pipeline reports

Managing an assigned book of Lariba customers

Identifying cross-sell and up-sell opportunities

Conducting regular scheduled and ad hoc relationship calls and visits with assigned customers

Growing deposit balances within the assigned portfolio

Proactively marketing Lariba savings

and investment accounts

Supporting customers to increase their wallet share with NBC

Identifying and referring financing opportunities within the customer portfolio

Monitoring account activity within the assigned portfolio

Identifying dormant accounts

or early signs of attrition

Implementing re-engagement strategies

Handling and resolving day-to-day customer queries

Cross-selling complementary NBC products and services

Meeting or exceeding monthly and quarterly deposit targets

Actively marketing Lariba savings

and term investment accounts

Organising and facilitating customer education sessions

product demonstrations

and community savings drives

Tracking personal deposit performance against targets

Gathering and relaying customer feedback on deposit products

Supporting the origination of Lariba financing facilities

Identifying and documenting customer financing needs

Collecting required financial information

and supporting documents

Conducting basic pre-screening of potential financing customers

Following up on approved financing offers with customers

Monitoring repayment behaviour of financed customers

Upholding Shari’ah integrity in every customer interaction and operational activity

Supporting the broader reporting and administrative requirements of the Islamic Banking team

Ensuring all customer-facing transactions

and communications are consistent with approved Shari’ah structures

Identifying and promptly reporting any observed Shari’ah compliance risk

or customer complaint relating to Islamic Banking

and up-to-date customer files and transaction documentation

Preparing and submitting daily activity reports

and monthly performance summaries

Participating in all Islamic Banking training programmes

Shari’ah compliance refreshers

Performing other duties and assignments as directed

How You'll Work.

Team & Collaboration

Operating under the guidance of the Relationship Manager – Islamic Banking; Branch-level coordination; Escalating only decisions beyond delegated authority; Referring financing opportunities within the customer portfolio to the Relationship Manager; Escalating complex matters to the Relationship Manager promptly; Reporting progress to the Relationship Manager; Flagging shortfalls with proposed corrective actions to the Relationship Manager; Relaying customer feedback on deposit products to the Relationship Manager; Collecting required financial information, business data, and supporting documents to facilitate credit application preparation by the Relationship Manager; Referring potential financing customers to the Relationship Manager; Flagging early warning signs of delinquency to the Relationship Manager; Reporting any observed Shari’ah compliance risk, process deviation, or customer complaint relating to Islamic Banking to the Relationship Manager or Shari’ah Compliance Manager; Submitting daily activity reports, weekly call reports, and monthly performance summaries to the Relationship Manager; Supporting team initiatives, events, and branch-level coordination

Communication Scope

Clear and confident verbal communication in Swahili; Able to explain Islamic Banking products in plain, accessible language to customers
