What You'll Do.
Perform functions of Registered Practical Nurse
Provide high quality nursing service
Supervise staff in the unit
Coordinate resident care
Communicate with families
Implement the nursing process
Maintain communication with family members
Maintain working relationship with physicians
Initiate contact with team members
Plan and direct work of Personal Support Workers
Assist in new staff orientation
Provide feedback/coaching to PSWs
Ensure nursing supplies and equipment
Keep up-to-date record of medication
Dispose of discontinued or expired medications
Implement risk management programs
Provide intervention to resident care issue
Monitor safety and security
Assume duty of fire marshall
Participate in nursing committees
Coordinate and chair interdisciplinary care conference
Provide updates on resident's conditions
Perform role of Unit Nurse
Supervise activities of students
Provide job shadowing or mentorship
Keep up-to-date with developments
Other duties as assigned

Coordination of resident care with interdisciplinary team members; Maintains close working relationship with attending physicians, laboratories, agencies and hospitals and related disciplines; Initiates contact with appropriate team members as required by the resident's condition; Coordinates and chairs interdisciplinary care conference for residents; Provides updates on resident's conditions during doctors' rounds; Supervises activities of students, as assigned; Provides job shadowing or mentorship to members of the health care team, as assigned
