Newport News, Virginia _**Labor Pool-Days Available**_ Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager to assess, plan, make nursing diagnosis, implement, and evaluate care for patients with fecal or urinary diversion, patients with wound and skin problems and pressure ulcers. Provides continuity of care of the ostomy and skin care patient by improving the competence, performance, and understanding of the nursing staff; functions as a consultant for patients with ostomies, complex wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers, and skin problems, and serves as a resource person for the nursing, allied, and medical staffs, patient, family and community. In addition, the individual must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in their care. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the departmental policy and procedure guide. Assumes responsibility for attending seminars / in-service programs to promote growth and development.
