Work where you matter.** **A Brief Overview** Responsible for day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary professional staff to achieve optimal patient results and outcomes. **What you will do ** * Responsible and accountable for the ongoing operations of the unit in compliance with established safety/quality standards and established goals and objectives, which includes providing direction to staff and providing appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and professional development for staff. * Assures the establishment and maintenance of standards of care, standards of practice and competency-based orientation, and continuing education programs for the unit. * Responsible for position control, staff mix, and the scheduling process to maintain appropriate staffing levels to maximize unit efficiency. Collaborates with nursing leadership to address staffing needs. * Maintains current knowledge base of clinical concepts, use of evidence based practices to enhance patient care and services, reimbursement issues, and regulations applicable to the unit. * Assists in preparing the unit's annual budget and uses appropriate action to assure that budget objectives are achieved and revenue and expense objectives are met. * Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols related to the clinical area of responsibility and ensures timely completion of these processes.
