What They're Looking For.
Must Have
8+ years progressive management experience, 8-10 years of directly related experience, solid title underwriting background, Demonstrated competency in executing strategic plans, Experience in risk management, Knowledge and understanding of state laws and regulations affecting insurance practices, Knowledge of finance, accounting and actuarial concepts and practices as applied to the insurance industry, Ability to learn needs of a wide range of employees, driving team performance, monitoring results, appropriately allocating resources, Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization, Experience and knowledge of functional tools and infrastructure, Progressive experience in leading employees in multiple locations, significant experience developing and implementing solutions, Demonstrates success establishing, leading and maintaining effective working relationships at the Middle and Senior Management level

Directs day-to-day operations of Underwriting Department
Develops and implements policies and procedures
Develops underwriting strategies
Assesses and develops underwriting operational plans

Confers with Senior and Executive Management
Has full supervisory responsibility for staff
Plans staffing requirements
Responsible for salary administration
Interviews candidates
Makes hiring decisions
Writes and conducts performance reviews

Manages disciplinary actions
Provides development opportunities
Ensures teams and individuals understand roles
Meets with individual team members on performance

Team & Collaboration
Works with other Senior Management to ensure plans are integrated; Partners with other departments to align underwriting tactics; Confers with Senior and Executive Management regarding departmental requirements; Facilitates the resolution of problems and development of new initiatives
