**Location:** Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta **Employment Type:** Full Time – Limited Term – Anticipated duration 12 Months **Salary Range:** T3, Level 5, $102,000 - $120,000 per year. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on individual factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. **Quaternary Geologist - Hybrid** **The Opportunity** The Alberta Geological Survey (AGS), a branch of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), is recruiting for a Quaternary Geologist to join a talented group of geoscientists within the Groundwater Geoscience Team. As a Quaternary Geologist, this position is expected to produce near-surface stratigraphic models for the Southern Alberta Groundwater Evaluation (SAGE) project. The goals of the SAGE project are to identify favourable groundwater locations for users seeking alternative water supply; quantify potential effects of allocating groundwater on surface water availability in regions where high-water demand is forecasted; and improve access to groundwater data to streamline and inform regulatory decisions. You will provide a major contribution to the mapping and stratigraphic understanding of Alberta’s Quaternary sediments and will inform the work of multidisciplinary teams to report on the quality, quantity and location of groundwater across southern Alberta. This information will enable more effective and efficient regulatory decisions on applications to access groundwater and help inform monitoring programs to ensure sustainable use and resiliency of Alberta’s groundwater resources. You will fill an important role in our project team focused on disseminating groundwater data and geoscience products to decision-makers, water licence-holders, and rural/urban municipalities through publications and web-hosted interactive applications. **What your day-to-day will look like:** * Apply geological principals and independent judgement, incorporating a thorough knowledge of near-surfac
