Full Job Description

Join us and make YOUR mark on the World! Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has turned bold ideas into world-changing impact advancing science and technology to strengthen U.S. security and promote global stability. Our mission spans four critical national security areas nuclear deterrence, threat preparedness, energy security, and multi-domain defense empowering teams to take on the toughest challenges of today and tomorrow. With a culture built on innovation and operational excellence, LLNL is a place where your expertise can make a real impact. We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to participate in research developing quantum devices utilizing superconducting and quantum materials for applications in quantum computing and quantum sensing. The research will also include a cross-division appointment with the Nuclear & Chemical Sciences (NACS) Division for studying the implementation of such detectors for use in axion dark matter detection experiments. You will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team responsible for conducting and supporting research to develop and characterize the performance of quantum amplifiers utilizing topological materials. You will also conduct research contributing to the design and testing of superconducting RF cavities. The position is in the Nanoscale, Surface, and Interface Science Group within the Materials for Emerging Applications and Extreme Conditions section of the Materials Science Division in the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate. This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work. You will * Design and conduct transport and microwave spectroscopy experiments characterizing the performance of microwave devices including amplifiers and superconducting circuits in cryogenic systems. * Characterize superconducting thin films and devices to support the development of quantum devices and microwave circuits. * Design and evaluate superconducting quantum devices and ci
