What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the electric utility or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) sectors., Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents., knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor productivity., Experience using estimating software such as InEight Estimate (or equivalent)., Experience with digital take-off tools such as Bluebeam., Ability to develop project schedules using Microsoft Project., Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Proficiency with document management software such as SharePoint., interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, procurement, construction, and project management functions., Proven ability to coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders., Able to clearly articulate estimate assumptions, risk considerations, and commercial impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences., Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines., Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently while also functioning as part of a larger team.
Nice to Have
Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, or certification as a Journeyperson Electrician or Power Systems Electrician considered a asset., Experience with renewable, distribution, and substation projects considered an asset.
What You'll Do.
Preparation of complete EPC proposals for high-voltage electrical
and utility projects.
Evaluating RFP packages to determine scope
and proposal requirements.
Ensuring compliant and competitive submissions.
Leading the development of detailed cost estimates and supporting documentation.
Identifying value engineering opportunities.
Supporting the transition from estimate to execution.
Coordinating and attending site visits.
Preparing supporting proposal documents (Project Execution Plan
Environmental/Safety/Quality/ITP Plans
Engaging subcontractors and vendors for pricing and scope alignment.
Reviewing client commercial terms.
Maintaining estimate basis records.
Facilitating internal estimate review meetings.
Conducting final bid submission reviews.
Conducting formal estimate hand-off meetings.
Assisting with change order and scope adjustment preparation.
Participating in project close-out and post-mortem reviews.
Supporting CRM system use for tracking proposal status
and business development metrics.
Submitting accurate and timely administrative documentation.
