What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Ph. D. in Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering science field with a emphasis on applied mathematics, numerical methods and modeling, Extensive programming and numerical methods experience in C++, FORTRAN and Python, research background in Soil Science, Hydrology and/or Agronomy, Ability to obtain a USDA security clearance
Nice to Have
Experience with agriculture and soils, Demonstrated programming experience with soil process simulation models such as finite element and finite difference models, experience with numerical methods and applied mathematics
What You'll Do.
Modify and improve finite element model
Simulate water and nitrogen dynamics
Develop algorithms for root growth
Improve simulation of saline soils
Continue work on mulch decomposition model
Find data in literature
Organize and analyze data
Provide numerical modeling support
Train users in model applications
Present findings at meetings
