What They're Looking For.
Must Have
High school diploma or GED (required, except Richmond market), Valid driver’s license (required, except Richmond market), BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire, except Richmond market), Certified completion of an approved police training academy and be a sworn law enforcement officer with police powers in the corresponding facility county, Non-violent crisis intervention training (required within 6 months of hire, except Richmond market)
Nice to Have
Associate's degree (preferred), 1-3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience (preferred)
What You'll Do.
Provide internal and external safety/police functions
Support general safety of BSMH facilities
Participate in investigations
Make arrests when warranted
Respond to radio and/or telephone calls
Respond to routine assistance
Respond to emergency assistance
visitors and employees
Mitigate environment of care safety hazards
Deter criminal activity
Patrol all hospital property
Enforce parking regulations
Enforce visitation policies
Enforce drug enforcement
Enforce tobacco free/smoking policy
Monitor hospital activity on closed circuit television
Alert to escalating situations
Intervene in patient confrontations
Intervene in visitor confrontations
Intervene in staff confrontations
Document all duties performed
Complete daily activity logs
Complete incident reports
Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures
Demonstrate understanding of alarm response
Demonstrate understanding of evacuation plans
Demonstrate understanding of internal disaster plans
Demonstrate understanding of external disaster plans
