Must Have

High School Graduate/GED required, 0-1 years experience, HeartSaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required, Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required, customer service, interpersonal, communication, and team player skills required, Ability to work with high degree of accuracy required

Nice to Have

Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred, 2-4 years preferred, One (1) year of previous receptionist experience preferred, Experience in patient scheduling and orders management skills preferred, Knowledge of Application software for patient scheduling and orders management preferred, Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail, label printer) preferred, Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred

What You'll Do.

Use appropriate aseptic technique to draw blood cultures

Process Stat specimens according to SMG SOP

Prepare collection containers for patients

Give instructions for proper collection of specimens at home

Measure and record volume for a 24-hr collection

Collect a COC Urine Drug Screen

Administer and collect a H. pylori Breath test

Handle orders on minors

Complete paperwork and label specimen for OVH Blood Bank

Process satellite specimens and deliver them

Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies

Delete/cancel orders with documentation

Recall patients for follow-up procedures

Document callbacks in the lab logbook

Utilize LIS for all applicable functions

Adapt work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs

Check-in a patient in a satellite lab

Process lab and office collected specimens for transport

Contact a courier for a Stat pickup

and enter a result for a Rapid Strep

and enter a result for Hemoccult test

Notify physician of critical result

Train new staff in proper lab policies and procedures
