What You'll Do.

Monitor patient and ensure bleeding has stopped
Review prior to collection a standard checklist
Maintain patient privacy
Follow all HIPAA guidelines
Provide pediatric and ancillary services

Maintain adequate supply inventory
Complete monthly inventory checks

We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham. _**Job Summary**_ Under general supervision of the Supervisor of Clinical Support Services, the individual collects specimens for laboratory analysis including blood, urine and nasal swabs for testing. Explains safety protocols and procedures to patients, is customer focused and provides certain clerical functions. Collect blood using good judgment, reasonable and prudent care and according to policies and procedures, including but not limited to the following: -Check two patient identifiers and insure a complete match between requisitions, labels and patient identification card. -Use hand hygiene procedures according to unit guidelines -Select appropriate specimen collection equipment -Select appropriate site for blood collection. -Tie tourniquet and prepare site for venipuncture -Collect specimen according to order of draw -Ensure adequate mixing of specimen in tube by inversion or mechanical device. -Label in presence of patient -Package and transport specimens -Monitor patient and ensure bleeding has stopped, and patient is stable. -Review prior to collection a standard checklist which includes checking for potential adverse reactions such as history of fainting, and latex allergy. -Is customer focused and puts the needs of patients first -Maintains patient privacy, and follows all HIPAA guidelines -With training, or if qualified by competency review, clerical and specimen -With training, or if qualified by competency review, provide pediatric and
