The University of Miami Health System at **Doral** has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Pharmacist. **SUMMARY** The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also, an employee in this position transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable databases, and performs drug utilization review. **CORE JOB FUNCTIONS** * Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. * Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. * Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages. * Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications. * Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability. * Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage. * Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions. * Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs. * Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies. * Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards
