What They're Looking For.

Must Have

15+ years of experience in software engineering, QA, performance engineering, or a related discipline, 5+ years as a direct people manager (hiring, coaching, and performance management), Proven people management skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, agile delivery and Jira administration experience

Nice to Have

MS degree preferred, Recommended knowledge in Financial Services, Performance engineering experience is a plus, familiarity with tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, NeoLoad, or similar, APM/observability tooling such as Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, etc., Comfortable partnering with engineers on technical ability to understand code-level and database-level discussions, .NET/Java, SQL, scripting, Experience with industry-standard profiling tools is a plus, DevOps/CI-CD familiarity is beneficial, Jenkins/TeamCity or similar, Git, exposure to cloud platforms, Ability to translate business requirements into comprehensive non-functional and technical test plans

Full Job Description

**Summary:** Lead and support a Performance Engineering scrum team as a people manager with direct reports, accountable for hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development. Own team operations (Jira administration, reporting, ceremonies, and cross-team coordination) to ensure work is visible, planned, and executed effectively. Partner with QA, Product, Engineering, and customer-facing teams to align on non-functional requirements, remove blockers, and drive continuous improvement. Performance engineering expertise is valued to help guide technical direction, but the primary focus of this role is people leadership and operational excellence. **Responsibilities:** * Provide overall team leadership: set direction, plan capacity, prioritize work with stakeholders, and ensure commitments are met. * Direct people management for the Performance Engineering team: hiring and onboarding, goal setting, ongoing coaching, performance management, compensation/performance reviews input, and career development. * Own staffing and capacity planning for the team: maintain an up-to-date skills matrix, identify hiring needs, and ensure sustainable delivery (team health, engagement, and retention). * Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, QA, Implementation, and Professional Services to understand priorities and non-functional requirements, and translate them into an actionable team backlog. * Own Jira and team administration: maintain boards/workflows, ensure ticket quality, drive backlog hygiene, and provide clear status reporting to stakeholders. * Establish and improve team processes (intake, estimation, definition of done, documentation standards) to increase predictability and throughput. * Serve as Scrum Master / agile lead for the team (or partner closely with one), facilitating ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives) and removing delivery blockers. * Coordinate cross-functional dependencies and communicate risks,
