What You'll Do.
Manage workflow of specimens
Identify potential errors
Prepare specimens for testing
Process specimens for testing
Perform specimen accessioning
Receive specimens into the laboratory
Perform clerical duties
Handle specimens sent to Reference laboratories
Process specimens sent to Reference laboratories
Prepare specimens sent to Reference laboratories
Distribute work to technical areas
Process specimens received in the laboratory
Accept specimens into the laboratory information system
Accession specimens into the laboratory information system
Input correct information in the LIS
Input correct information in the EHR
Assess samples received compared to tests ordered
Resolve discrepancies in samples
Maintain safe and clean working environment
Comply with procedures
Resolve reference lab issues
Make necessary aliquots
Complete required paperwork for send-out
Store samples correctly for pickup
Complete process for send-out testing
Follow proper phone protocol
Follow up with physicians if recollects identified
Follow up with coworkers if recollects identified
Follow up with patients if recollects identified
Keep work area well stocked
Perform cleaning of refrigerators
Perform cleaning of freezers
Keep maintenance logs up to date
Investigate discrepancies
Resolve problems with minimum supervisory intervention
Complete all assigned training on time
Perform other duties as requested

The primary objective of this position is to manage and triage samples, identify potential errors and maximize patient/client satisfaction. Position involves preparing, processing, and performing specimen accessioning for testing according to laboratory regulations. The processor will receive specimens into the laboratory, review paperwork and perform clerical duties. Use of the Laboratory Information System is essential.
