What They're Looking For.
Must Have
5-7 years of experience in Canadian full‑cycle payroll, Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, Previous experience in a senior, lead, or supervisory payroll role, Solid knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, Proficiency with Workday HCM, Proficiency with Workday Payroll, Proficiency with Workday Time and Absence, Advanced Excel proficiency, High attention to detail, Controls approach, Excellent problem-solving skills, Ability to manage multiple deadlines, Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods
Nice to Have
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field, Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation, Multi-entity payroll experience, Understanding of US payroll, Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, Experience with PowerBI, Experience with AI tools
What You'll Do.
Lead full-cycle payroll processing
Process regular and off-cycle payrolls
Review and approve payroll input/output
Maintain compliance with federal requirements
Maintain compliance with provincial requirements
Manage year-end activities
Provide technical guidance to Payroll Analyst
Provide daily direction to Payroll Analyst
Ensure coverage at peak times
Act as senior point of contact for complex payroll issues
Escalate complex payroll issues
Maintain payroll controls
Enhance payroll controls
Maintain payroll reconciliations
Enhance payroll reconciliations
Maintain payroll documentation
Enhance payroll documentation
Support system changes
Support continuous improvement initiatives
