Full Job Description
Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and other routine duties including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care. Adheres to unit procedures wherever transport services rendered. ## Essential Functions * Practicing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds. * Prepares patient for transport and performs passive and active identification to ensure all patients are properly identified before transporting. * Transports all patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency and high risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU). * Effectively communicates with medical employees to ensure all required medical supplies and medications are appropriately transported with the patient including the administering of oxygen when required. * Responsible for the timely discharge of patients throughout the hospital. * Under the direction of medical employees and/or Registered Nurse (RN), assists in providing support in toileting ambulatory patients. * Cleans and disinfects equipment according to established policies and procedures. Maintains clean work areas and returns equipment to appropriate department. Communicates malfunctioning equipment/instruments to appropriate department/unit staff. * Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. * Performs other duties as assigned. ## Qualifications Required * Successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training. * High school diploma or equivalent * BLS (AHA, American Heart Association) or BLS (ARC, American
