What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training, High school diploma or equivalent, BLS (AHA, American Heart Association) or BLS (ARC, American Red Cross) within 90 days of hire, Understands and demonstrates safe lifting and transport techniques, Knows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate, Demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interaction with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non-licensed staff, physicians, and management, Ability to understand and follow directions, Ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements, The ability to recognize if the patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seek assistance
Nice to Have
Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment
What You'll Do.
Transport patients to and from examinations and treatments
Perform general errands and routine duties
Act as a team member in delivery of quality patient care
Adhere to unit procedures
Practice safe lifting and techniques
Assist patients in and out of cars
Lift patients on and off beds
Move patients using wheelchairs
Prepare patient for transport
Perform passive and active identification
Transport patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas
Communicate with medical employees for supply transport
Administer oxygen when required
Responsible for timely discharge of patients
Assist in providing support in toileting ambulatory patients
Clean and disinfect equipment
Maintain clean work areas
Return equipment to appropriate department
Communicate malfunctioning equipment/instruments
Participate in safety initiatives
Complete safety related competencies and requirements
