What You'll Do.

greeting incoming patients and visitors

performing all patient registration duties

in the Emergency Department

entering pertinent patient information

explaining various registration forms

verifying insurance eligibility

collecting payment for services

providing excellent care and service to patients

guests and fellow employees at all times

independent judgment and a working knowledge of department procedures related to work performed to contribute to the efficient operation of the department

answering incoming calls

screening as necessary

and transferring as requested

greeting and directing employees

business representatives and the general public arriving at the facility

providing general information regarding the facility and department functions and procedures

answering incoming email requests from various areas throughout the hospital to make edits to accounts

communicating with team members throughout various areas within the use of telephone

computer and other office related equipment for this purpose

operating overhead page system

processing Emergency Department admissions and patient transfers within the facility

interviewing patients or relatives regarding personal and insurance

instructing patients and relatives of related policies

recording and typing patient and insurance information and obtaining appropriate signature

ensuring all the necessary consents and HIPAA forms are signed and completed

maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information

preparation of appropriate paperwork for next day’s patient schedules

processing documents of straightforward nature requiring somewhat expanded knowledge of check documents for accuracy and completeness of specific maintains files and records of documents processed for ready records data onto documents according to standard procedures related to work performed

notifying nursing staff of patient arrival and routing patient to waiting

testing or therapy areas as if the patient is to be admitted

notifying nursing staff of patient’s arrival and finding an escort for patient to the appropriate area

performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Team & Collaboration

communicates with team members throughout various areas within the use of telephone, mobile communication, computer and other office related equipment for this purpose; notifies nursing staff of patient arrival and routes patient to waiting, testing or therapy areas as if the patient is to be admitted, notifies nursing staff of patient’s arrival and finds an escort for patient to the appropriate area
