Responsibilities include providing assistance to the professional staff (pathologists) during gross dictation, doing frozen sections (rapid diagnoses) while patients are in the operating rooms, and providing assistance to the histotechnicians as necessary. This position works under direct supervision. Work situations are generally routine but require concentration, close attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, ability to work under a stressful timeline, and ability to communicate information properly to physician offices, surgeons and pathologists. Internal contacts are primarily operating room staff, surgeons, pathologists and laboratory staff.
