Valid driver license is required at time of application., Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment., The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures., pre-employment background checks., post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history., Physical and sensory abilities will be determined by position., Motion Activity - Hearing Activity - in noisy areas, behind themselves and equipment, Speaking Activity - in person and on the Vision Activity - may be required operate motor vehicle, distinguish colors, have depth perception, and peripheral vision., Working conditions will be determined by the position.

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in natural resource management, environmental science, wildlife and fisheries science, renewable natural resources, watershed management, range management, park administration, recreation, anthropology, archaeology, fine arts, industrial arts, education, landscape architecture, biology, or a related degree as defined by the department head at the time of, four (4) years of professional experience in the management or supervision of a recreational park, natural resource, cultural, restoration, or historic preservation park, facility, preserve, museum, or program, two (2) years of supervisory, Valid driver license is required at time of application., Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.

Nice to Have

Minimum three (3) years experience in public sector parks and recreation operations., Minimum two (2) years experience supervising public sector parks and recreation operations field staff., Minimum two (2) years experience in irrigation design and maintenance in large public parks., Minimum two (2) years experience in special event coordination in public sector parks.

What You'll Do.

Manages the operations of the Historic Canoa Ranch

evaluation and training of staff and volunteers

Coordination with the Friends of Historic Canoa Ranch

Delivers land stewardship

Supports landscape and cultural maintenance

Oversees management and operations of park(s)

and evaluates plans and projects

and evaluates park interpretive programs

and implements goals and objectives for park operations

and administers the annual park budget

Prepares and submits written and verbal reports

Manages and supervises the daily operations and maintenance of assigned County Natural Resource Park(s)

and supervises park staff

Responds to verbal and written inquiries from the public

Works with other governmental departments and agencies

Attends various meetings

and special functions

Inspects park facilities

Administers and oversees the acquisition and inventory of park supplies

Hires and supervises park staff and volunteers

Trains and supervises staff in the collection of fees

Responsible for the safety of visitors

Researches and submits routine

and special activity and project reports

Prepares and administers grants

and intergovernmental agreements

Interacts with law enforcement staff and agencies

Team & Collaboration

coordination with the Friends of Historic Canoa Ranch, a non-profit advocacy group; part of a team that delivers land stewardship; Works with other governmental departments and agencies, lessees, contractors, public and private organizations, neighborhood and community groups, the media, and the general public to achieve park; Interacts with law enforcement staff and agencies

Prepares and submits written and verbal reports; Responds to verbal and written inquiries from the public, private/public organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies
