Must Have
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Current appropriate state licensure, Meet practice requirements in state, Successfully complete CPR Certification, Meet Ishihara's Color Blindness test requirements
Nice to Have
Minimum of one-year medical-surgical nursing experience, Hemodialysis experience preferred, ICU experience preferred, Successfully complete a training course in hemodialysis
What You'll Do.
Direct Patient Care Technician's provision of therapy
Delegate tasks to direct patient care staff
Assess daily patient care needs
Develop appropriate patient care assignments
Monitor patient care staff for adherence
Participate in staff training and orientation
Participate in all required staff meetings
Ensure educational needs of patients and family are
Provide ongoing education to patients
Discuss and record education related to diet/fluid/medication
Provide patient specific detailed education
Ensure transplant awareness
Educate patients regarding laboratory values
Provide safe and effective delivery of care
Implement treatment prescriptions
Assess patients’ response to hemodialysis treatment
Make appropriate adjustments to treatment plan
Communicate problems or concerns to Team Leader
Identify and communicate patient related issues
Initiate Initial and Annual Nursing Assessment
Evaluate and document patient care needs
Participate in pre-evaluation of patients
Monitor hemodialysis treatment therapy
Take appropriate intervention for changes in patient adequacy
Troubleshoot access flow issues
Provide hemodialysis access care
Supervise hemodialysis access care
Monitor hemodialysis access care
Implement interdialytic transfusions
Administer interdialytic transfusions
Monitor patient's response to transfusions
Document patient's response to transfusions
Notify physician of adverse reactions
Ensure accurate documentation by Patient Care Technician
Review physician lab orders
Transcribe physician lab orders
Enter physician lab orders into Medical Information System
Prepare lab requisitions
Ensure correct labs tubes are utilized
Perform lab draw procedures
Perform lab processing procedures
Ensure follow-through regarding missed labs
Package specimens according to DOT policies
Direct labs to appropriate labs
Deliver labs to appropriate labs
Report alert/panic lab results to physician
Report abnormal lab results to physician
Forward lab results to physicians
Enforce company approved policies and procedures
Maintain overall shift operation
Act as a resource for other staff members
Meet with Clinical Manager
Discuss personnel and patient care status
Collaborate with physicians
Communicate with physicians
Interpret care provided to the patient
Adjust care provided to the patient
Coordinate care provided to the patient
Provide assistance regarding prescription refills
Ensure all physician orders are transcribed
Ensure all physician orders are entered into Medical
Oversee all documentation of patient information
Maintain facility drug list
Maintain competency with emergency operational procedures
Initiate CPR and emergency measures
Complete patient care plans for new patients
Complete patient care plans for unstable patients
Complete long-term programs
Complete initial Nursing History and Assessment
Complete annual Nursing History and Assessment
Ensure completion of Annual Standing Order Review
Perform additional duties as assigned
