Inform patients of referral status
Inform patients of scheduling requirements
Inform patients of necessary documentation
Verify insurance eligibility
Confirm referral authorization requirements
Build provider directory
Maintain provider directory
Research in-network providers
Guide patients toward appropriate referrals
Document referral activity
Partner with physicians
Partner with medical assistants
Partner with front office staff
Follow up with external providers
Follow up with facilities
Confirm appointment scheduling
Obtain outstanding reports
Monitor referral work queues
Ensure timely completion
Serve as resource for patients
Uphold HIPAA standards
Maintain strict confidentiality
