Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
What You'll Do.
Assist in monitoring vital signs
Maintain aseptic technique
Observe for break in technique
Care for contaminated items
Assist in stocking OR supplies
Stock and maintain surgical supplies
Check equipment daily
Document equipment checks
Assist in pre-op assessment
Discontinue Hep-Locks
Assist in post-op instruction review
Perform fingerstick blood sugar
Document results in medical record
Assist physician during laser procedures
Report pertinent observations to nurses/physician
Identify patient and family teaching needs
Initiate intervention for teaching needs
Maintain a positive environment
Maintain a safe environment
Initiate emergency measures
Monitor inventory levels
Attend departmental meetings
Attend in-service education
Participate in economical utilization of supplies
Ensure equipment is maintained clean
Ensure equipment is maintained safe
