What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field, Completion of a field school, Minimum 2 years of professional experience, Permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards, Permitted or permittable on BLM lands in Southern and Central California, Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in Southern and Central California, Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in Southern and Central California, Organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy, Excellent navigational skills (GPS and compass), Ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehicles, Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Nice to Have
Ability to work night shifts based on business needs, Proficiency using tablets (Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy) to document cultural resources, Proficiency with sub-meter GPS receiver, Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet), Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings, writing and editing skills, Ability to evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibility, Authored multiple archaeological site forms and inventory reports, Authored a master’s degree thesis

## **Ideal candidates will be permittable at the Field Director level or higher on BLM lands in CA, as well as permittable at the same levels on National and State Park lands, where applicable** **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt, Hourly **Reports To:** Archaeologist Supervisor **Job Type:** On-Call, Variable-Time **Compensation:** $28 - $34 per hour, based on relevant experience **JOB SUMMARY:** As an Archaeologist II, you will lead a variety of archaeological projects across Southern and Central California.
