What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field, Completion of a field school, Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, Listed on the New Mexico SHPO Directory at the Supervisory Archaeologist/Crew Chief level, Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology statewide in New Mexico, Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and isolates statewide in New Mexico, Use hand-held field technology (i. e. , ArcGIS phone/tablet application paired with sub-meter GPS receivers), Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day (not including resource documentation) and carry personal health and safety equipment (i. e. , personal water, sunscreen, etc. ), Work in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow), Perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team setting, Ability to follow instructions and to make adjustments when provided feedback, Organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy, Excellent navigational skills (GPS and compass) and ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehicles, Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Nice to Have
Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet), Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings, writing and editing skills, communication and organization skills, Authored multiple archaeological site forms and inventory reports, Prior experience supporting state and federal agencies

**_** Qualified candidates must be listed on the NM SHPO Directory at the Supervisory Archaeologist/Crew Chief level**_** **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt, Hourly **Reports To:** Project Manager II **Job Type:** On-Call, Variable-Time **Compensation:** $32 - $41 per hour, based on relevant experience **Ideal candidates can be located anywhere within the Southwestern United States. New Mexico area preferred.** **About Eocene Environmental Group:** Our team has spent the past two decades providing environmental, utility vegetation management (UVM), software and sustainability services.
