What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Completion of a Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent, Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
Nice to Have
Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT), 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital, Experience with acute patients, Experience with Surgical, Oncology, GIM, Cardiovascular, Transplant, MSICU, &/or Nephrology patients, Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance, Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, as well as seating and positioning
What You'll Do.
assess and treat patients
delegate appropriate duties to OTA/ PTA
provide student supervision
maintain best practice standards in accordance with UHN policies and procedures
Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto General and Princess Margaret Hospitals within the framework of patient centered care
Provide education to patients
occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
in collaboration with other members of the inter-disciplinary team; Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team; Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services
Communication Scope
Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team; Provide education to patients, their families, occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members; Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills; Demonstrates and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
